Frequently Asked Questions
What is Signtag, and what do we do?
What is Signtag?
Signtag is a passive referral platform for the commercial signage industry. We've taken traditional shop-to-shop referrals and added an online, nationwide funnel to help sign shops stay in business year round. Signtag's own advertising helps shops pull in more projects near them they otherwise may not have know were available.
What are passive referrals?
Passive referrals are what Signtag offers to commercial signage shops around the country. There is no subscription required to get referrals through Signtag. We send your shop the projects and if you have bandwidth it's yours, if not, no worries! We'll ping your shop the next time we get a project in your area. A referral fee is invoiced ONLY if your shop proceeds with the project.
What is Signtag's referral fee?
Signtag's referral fee is currently 5% and capped at $450. This means our fees won't exceed $450 for projects above $9,000. *Rates and caps are subject to change.
How often will my shop get referrals from Signtag?
We get dozens of projects every week around the country. The number of projects in your area will vary greatly, but since no subscription is required to receive Signtag referrals why wouldn't your shop sign up?
Is there a commitment to take projects Signtag sends to our shop?
No. Signing up with Signtag is commitment-free and the customer is not aware of which shops are notified of their project. If your shop has interest and bandwidth, go ahead and send the customer an estimate and engage. If not, there's no commitment and we'll ping you next time.
Signing up
How do I sign up?
Simply click "Sign Up" in the top right-hand corner of our homepage. We recommend filling in your profile information which asks which types of signs your shop creates. This helps us match customer requests in your area to your shop's capabilities. Fill in the information to create an account, then click "Sign Up".
While creating an account, why doesn't my shop's address show up in the drop-down menu?
Our geolocation (finding projects near you) is based on Google's databases. Sometimes an exact location doesn't appear in the drop-down. Simply choose the address closest to your actual address. If you and the customer want to meet in-person simply send them a message clarifying your actual location.
Sending estimates and making contact
Why should my shop use the Signtag messaging and estimate system?
- Data security - We take the security of our customers and our partner-shops very seriously. Keeping conversations and estimates on the Signtag system ensure a copy of your agreements can be accessed even if your own system has issues.
- Mediation - Signtag acts as a 3rd party mediator. Since estimates, updates to estimates, and the customer's final agreement of the estimate take place on Signtag, disputes can be easily mediated via Signtag's documentation.
- Tracking - Keeping conversations and estimates within the Signtag system allow us to track the status of projects and assist both customers and sign shops when needed.
Do drawings go to Signtag or to the customer?
Estimates and uploaded drawings (.jpg and .png only) go directly to the customer when you click "Send Estimate". Once the customer accepts your estimate billing and invoices can go through your shop's own internal system. Signtag simply provides the initial contact and agreement before the physical work begins on any given project.
Do estimates go to Signtag or the customer?
Estimates and uploaded drawings go directly to the customer when you click "Send Estimate". Once the customer accepts your estimate billing and invoices can go through your shop's own internal system. Signtag, simply provides the initial contact and agreement before the actual work begins.
If my estimate is accepted, how will I receive and pay the referral fee?
Once the customer accepts your estimate, billing and invoices can go through your shop's own internal system. Signtag will send your shop an invoice through Stripe for the referral fee. On our invoice there will be a link to pay online with a card and, if you prefer, information for ACH or wire transfers directly through your bank.
How do I contact the customer?
You can either send the customer a direct estimate based on the information provided in the request, or you can send them a message through our system to request their contact information. We protect customer details by requiring our partner-shops to send them a message through our system to request their contact information.
Why can't I see the requester's contact info?
Our customers trust us with their contact information, so we protect customer details by requiring our partner-shops to send them a message through our system to request their contact information. This reduces marketers and trolls from getting contact information and interfering with customer and shop business.
Can I call the customer before I send an estimate?
Yes! You must send a message to them first requesting their contact information. This reduces nuisance marketing and internet trolls from acquiring contact info and interfering with customer and shop business.
